ClawM's Traction Product Patents

August 9th 2021

At Claw Manufacturing (ClawM), we manufacturer our own patented Detachable Traction System and Wear Resistant Studs for machinery with wheels and rubber or steel tracks, including skid steers, forklifts, excavators, and more. ClawM currently has two US patents in place, two Canadian patents, one Russian patent and one European patent. What does this mean, exactly? It means our Detachable Traction System and Wear Resistant Studs are licensed and recognized as our inventions alone.

What is a patent?

A patent is a protection granted by the government that excludes others from making, using, or selling an invention for a specified period of time. In order to become patented, an invention must be deemed useful, novel (new), and non-obvious.

By patenting our products, we can assure you that our inventions have been vigorously tested and deemed worthy of this protection. Our company was founded by Brad Blackburn, who had over 30 years of professional experience in the logging and construction industry when he began working on creating the technology that would become ClawM. Throughout his years in the industry, Brad noticed how dangerous operating machinery with tracks could be as they slipped and slid on ice, mud, and snow. He set his innovative mind to work creating a product concept to help solve this industry-wide problem. He started the product concept in 2014, then turned the concept into a prototype, and with the prototype came testing. After a year of testing and working on new innovative designs, the studs finished testing with outstanding results. After the design was patented, sales started to come in.

Patents only apply within the country that grants them, so inventors must file applications in each country in which they require protection. We have secured patents for our inventions in the US, Canada, Russia, and Europe.

ClawM Inventions at a Glance

Detachable Traction System for Endless Track Vehicles

Our system is designed to improve stability in all directions and increase traction and safety in all weather conditions, including ice/snow and deep mud/slush. Gripping bars are bolted through selected treads of each track and angled to prevent side slippage. Our gripping patch is made of a durable, rough, protrusive material designed to claw into ice or hard-packed snow, ensuring adequate traction no matter how slippery conditions are. Each component of the system is detachable, making it easy to swap out damaged parts or switch out elements depending on weather conditions and specific needs.

Wear Resistant Studs for Tracked Vehicles

Claw Manufacturing’s traction attachments attach directly through tracks. They are designed to provide improved stability in all directions, and increase traction and safety on thick ice, deep snow, wet mud, and compact or loose dirt. Our Studs Mud Bars, and Claws, are installed through the track, and provide ample traction for any rubber track machine. Our wear resistant track studs have been carefully designed and are manufactured to exact heating/cooling specifications in order to maximize functionality and durability. ClawM’s variety of studs allow the operator of a tracked vehicle to select the appropriate traction element to match the terrain conditions. Currently, we offer five different types of studs to suit different terrains and climates (ice, mud, snow, dry loose dirt). All ClawM attachments are installed with a patented flange nut that ensures studs will stay in place on the rubber track.
